ALEXANDER ROTHAUG

 Seus ancestrais maternos também foram pintores e escultores. Rothaug entabulou um aprendizado como escultor com Johann Schindler. No ano de 1892 trabalhou como ilustrador para uma revista. Em 1896 casou-se com Ottilie Lauterkorn. Em 1910 tornou-se membro da sociedade cooperativa  de belas-artes de Viena.

Fez jornadas para Dalmácia, Itália e Rügen. Tinha um estilo específico com grande elegância técnica.

   Seus temas eram ligados a mitologia antiga e sagas alemãs. Recheadas de cenas significativas. Com abastados efeitos de luz e cor e forma brilhante de pintar. Ao qual permaneceu autêntico até a vetustez.

    Entre seus grandes trabalhos , se destaca Menelau encontra Helena.

Seine mütterlichen Vorfahren waren auch Maler und Bildhauer. Rothaug begann als Bildhauer bei Johann Schindler zu lernen. 1892 arbeitete er als Illustrator für eine Zeitschrift. 1896 heiratete er Ottilie Lauterkorn. 1910 wurde er Mitglied der Wiener Genossenschaft für bildende Künste.
